ahh the things we learn in english

hey mommy guess what i learnt this year
let me tell you, please!
some of the things that are wrong are
the south africans and taiwanese
and drugs are good,
no really,
my teacher said its so
fair trade drugs are better
then no drugs at all you know

drunk on poetry

the strangest thing is happening
at least, i think its queer
i got kind of tipsy when i looked up from writing here
the meter is bouncing around in my head
and im feeling quite giddy and light
didnt know i could get drunk off poetry
i think i will break for the night.

what shall i do with my life?

i could sit here and continue to type
in front of this sickening screen
but id rather go out and wander about
or sit somewhere else and dream
so if youll excuse me, dont be sorry to lose me
i've got a world full of things to do
you can give yourself cancer from this learning enhancer
and i'll live out a dream or two

to fill up space

we have to have a number of posts up
by the end of this week i know
so here is one to fill up space
oh god, i've sunk so low

ode to computers

oh computer, how i loathe you
and your radiating screen
other people seem to like it
but to me you are so mean

oh computer how i loathe you
and all other electronic things
all the gadgets and gizmos and whatnot
that civilization brings

oh computer how i loathe you
you fill me top to bottom with hate
and what a joke to the world am i
that i went and got born way too late

Dear Class

before the year ends i wanted to tell you
how much ive enjoyed you this year
and because i havent been doing my homework
i may as well do it here
i hope youll all be able to find this
but i guess its okay if not,
because im not really good at thank you's
though i owe you quite alot
so thank you all for an awesome year
one i would never trade
and i wish you the worlds best summer break
and for me: a decent grade

Dear Nick

sorry nick, with this assignment
ive gone and got started so late
apparently the date is changeable,
but i cant figure how to change the date
so excuse me for being honest
or not having the wits to lie
and try to mark me fairly
for the little bit i try
my computer really is rotten,
it breaks down all the time for no reason
so that rules out work out of class
at least for the rest of this season
so even though this stuff isn't written
at exactly the proper times
please forgive me my lack of work ethic
and enjoy my little rhymes

http://www.ketzle.com/frost/roadnot.htm this poem, "the road not taken" by robert frost is exellent. apart from having a good take-home message, he has fit the poem togather perfectly, reminding you of more then the poem says in the beat. the beat sounds the same as a horse trotting, despite the fact that the person in question is standing still staring at two roads deverged, evidently to remind us that even when we stop to consider our options, life is continually moving around us. it reminds you not to miss your chance, to do something diffrent from everybody else.

http://ninjamonkeys.co.za/index.php/2005/03/17/expanding_brain_book_club this site is not very good, its links are very random and not "mind expanding" at all like it claims

this has some good links but the site main part of the site is not very good http://www.webdelsol.com/Blog_House/

http://www.bookninja.com/ i think this is a good litblog, it has all diffrent sorts of books on it and has good links to alot of other book review sites.

http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/ethicalesq/2005/04/19#a3688 this site is a bunch of haiku poems, which i am putting on hoping that someone will explain exactly what the point of a haiku poem is.

http://www.favoritepoem.org/poems/williams/ this site is a poem about eating a peach by william c. williams. i had read it before and always thought it was sort of useless. then i found these variations on it. i thought they were very amusing. http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~richie/poetry/html/aupoem191.html
